Song memory (Tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree)

             This song is very special to me, because the lyrics are similar to my story. First, I am going to tell you about the story of this music. A man was in prison. He fell in love with a woman before he came to the prison and she left him while he was in prison. Then, he wrote her a love letter. He wrote that ‘if you still want me, you could tie a yellow ribbon on the old oak tree’. He finished his 3-year sentence and was released from prison. He got on a bus to find the yellow ribbon. However, he could not get out of the bus because he was too worried that if she did not hang the ribbon. That was how much he loved her. He decided to stay on the bus and erased the promise they made. He felt like everything was his fault, so he blamed himself.

              Like this story of the song, I had a similar story and it happened when I was in army. Do you know that almost every Korean man must complete military service for 2-years? I had a girlfriend before I went to the army. We fell in love and blinded with love. The fact that I had to begin the military service while we were dating was a shock to each other. While I was in the army, I could not go out at all and making phone calls was limited. We drifted farther and farther apart from each other. I was still in love with her after I retired from the army, but she had another boyfriend. I was very shocked. It made me crazy at that time. I listened to this music on the radio and it made me so sad.

              I think I am still in love with her and I still remember the memory with her.
